Why you should change your current BRP to an eVisa now

11 November 2024 | Abbiss Cadres

What is an eVisa?

An eVisa is the new system from UKVI whereby it contains the online record of your immigration status and visa conditions. This system replaces the Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) system which will end on 31st December 2024 as well as the traditional visa vignette. There will be no physical documents with the details of your visa after this date.

You will be able to use your eVisa to travel to the UK as the eVisa is linked to your passport and to prove your right to work and live in the UK

The eVisa benefits include:

  • Providing security for your visa identity as it cannot be stolen or tampered with.
  • No longer needing to carry physical documents to show your visa status.
  • It will be quicker and easier to prove your visa status at the UK border and share your status with third parties like employers and landlords.
