Small increases to the national minimum wage will take effect from 1 October 2009. The Government has adopted the Low Pay Commission’s recommendations that:
- the adults rate, for workers aged 22 or over, should rise from £5.73 to £5.80 per hour;
- the development rate, for workers aged between 18 and 21, should rise from £4.77 to £4.83 per hour; and
- the young workers rate, for workers aged under 18, should rise from £3.53 to £3.57 per hour.
