Deadline for UK share plan filings – online system up and running

Following the initial extension for making share plan filings to the UK tax authorities (HMRC), companies have been unable to file their returns on the ERS Online system (due to technical errors) which has led to a further extension.

Companies can file their returns on or before Tuesday 4 August and will not be charged a penalty, as has been confirmed by HMRC.

Please do take in to consideration that the site is currently experiencing extreme volumes and might cause minor delays.

HMRC are investigating whether customers who have filed their returns on or before 3 July have been negatively affected and will advise in due course.

Any further updates will be published as and when further information becomes available.

*Update (14 September 2015)

HMRC confirmed that multiple scheme returns submitted prior to 20 July 2015 via ERS Online have been affected due to a technical fault.  Companies concerned will be receiving notice from the HMRC requesting them to resubmit their scheme returns, however only HMRC have access to the list of companies/scheme returns affected.  Penalties will not be charged in this situation as the original returns were submitted in good faith.
