High Pay Centre launched to monitor executive pay

29 February 2012 |

Following announcements by Vince Cable, the Business Secretary, a new independent think tank has been launched to monitor executive pay.

The High Pay Centre’s responsibilities include monitoring pay “at the top of the income distribution” and devising a plan to achieve better business understanding and economic success. Their aims include publishing research on the pay of listed company executives and liaising with policymakers, companies and stakeholders on reforming executive pay.

Commentary

The High Pay Centre was launched following the publication of the High Pay Commission’s final report and while the Government is considering its response to the recent consultations and discussion papers on executive remuneration, it is likely that the launch of the High Pay Centre will ensure the focus remains on the anticipated changes to executive remuneration.
